I am not a web shop

I did the whole web shop thing at themodelworx. whilst it can be useful in some ways it takes a lot of work to get it going with all the products and to keep it up to date. Time I just don't have.

I will however take orders over the phone or preferably via email. I accept all major credit cards. For your safety please do not email me CC numbers.

I have access to a large range of spares and equipment. I hold very little in stock but this will change in the long term. I have chosen my suppliers very carefully. I can either get them to ship directly to you which will normally go out the same day or I can bring it to the field on the next visit. You don't need to be a trainee to order parts.

Combos and starter packages

I offer 2 starter packages. I do not offer budget packages as they will only cost you more in the long run as you find you will have to upgrade components. These are COMPLETE packages too with everything you need including fuel and all accessories you are going to need apart from a tool set.

Budget Package

Absolute minimum recommended. This package represents excellent value for money. It has all the right components to not only start your carrier in helicopters but also get you through the first year. You will not need to replace any components to keep the model inline with your skills during your first season. The only thing you might want to add in future is a governor such as the rev-lock, fast charger and a digital servo for the collective pitch. Note this package includes 4 gallons of high quality fully synthetic fuel. That's enough for over 45 flights

The Raptor is a proven design well supported by model shops all over the country. The components in the package mean the model will be easy to setup and need little or no tweaking once its setup. Initially not the cheapest way to get into the hobby but will save you time effort and probably money in the long run.

The Not so budget package: Knight 50

This package features the Knight 50 from Compass model. This model features a lot of metal components to provide a very durable model that is pleasing to the Eye. Best of all it will deal with everything you can throw at it.

There are 2 Versions available.

Plastic tail version

Still has the metal head and frames etc etc but has a plastic tail gearbox and tail grips. This comes out at £309.00

Metal Tail Version

The Ultimate Bling, Metal tail gearbox, blade grips and pitch slider. This comes out at £349.99

Power System

At the moment there is only one real choice. The OS50 Hyper is readily available and has ridiculous amounts of power especially when combined with a Curtis Muscle Pipe and Magnum 30% fuel.

Electronics

This models combination of specification, durability and price makes it a great model for a almost everybody but also complicates what equipment you put in it. If you have been doing this a while you will know what servos etc you want in it but for those that haven't here are my recommendations depending on your budget.

Due to this I have put together 2 packages of electronics. The Battery stays the same accross the 2 packages If you are not

Sport Flier

This package uses some of the cheaper Digital servos offering good accuracy which is important for the CCPM but at the expense of some speed and power. It Also uses a 401 gyro with 9254 tail servo. This gyro is excellent unless you are getting into fast backwards flying or pirouetting moves when it can get a little inconsistent and soft feeling. This package also includes a governor which is a must for today's aerobatics and 3d but makes life a lot easier even for sport flying.

Intermediate/Expert Flier

This setup uses well proven Futaba servos on the CCPM they have been used on CCPM helis for a long time by some of the best pilots in the world. Sure there are other servos that on paper have more power and are faster but I prefer to play it safe with these. The throttle servo is the same as used on the Sport flier setup, being digital it is ideal for use with the rev-lock. Finally we have the Futaba 611. Not flown one myself but I am a big fan of the 601 and all reports are saying it has small improvements.
